We're challenged! And it can be a pleasure to be led by a lady when she leads from her own being, with her whole self, instead of trying to copy us – because in my view, that doesn't work. They're two different, wonderful energies.

What does it take to become a
TANGO CHICO
?
First and foremost, you want to have what it takes. You want to enjoy dancing, and you want your partners to enjoy dancing with you.
For that you need good technique. It's made up of many components:
Balance, stability, rhythm, axis, strength, humor, breathing, lightness, musicality, sensitivity.
We research, practice and train all of this together on a physical, mental and emotional level.
For many of us, learning among men is simply incredibly fun too.
The energy, the intensity of learning together, is something completely different.
It's not comparable to the energy that flows between man & woman in tango. That's not a judgment, just simply the fact that it's different – and above all, effective and beautiful!
For all of us, the experience of stepping into the following role is essential. It's also the experience of constantly switching roles that takes our leading further.
Together with Iwan's teaching and the honest feedback you get from another Chico in this safe space, among men only.
We also care about solidarity – about fostering and enabling a community among the Tango Chicos.
It's about formulating shared values and developing a sense of togetherness.
We as men, we as tangueros, we as the shared creators of tango.
Condition of participation:
You need balls.
Whether real, sewn on or virtual – what matters is that you live your life as a man. The training and the milonga are shaped by a vibe of appreciation. Whether experienced dancer or absolute beginner – it doesn't matter. Everyone can learn something from everyone.
By the way, sexual orientation doesn't matter to us at all. Respect and camaraderie among men in tango is – and should be – lived and nurtured here.
